Import of goods worth Rs 438 billion increases by 15.30 per cent

Birgunj. Goods worth Rs 438.21 billion have been imported through Birgunj in the first six months of the current fiscal year.

Compared to the same period last year, imports through this border point increased by 15.30 percent. In the first six months of the last fiscal year, goods worth Rs 380.06 billion were imported. Udaya Singh Bista, information officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, said that there has been a significant increase in the import of goods through the border point in the first six months of the current fiscal year.

Nepal imported petroleum products worth Rs 90.06 billion in the first six months of the current fiscal year. Imports of iron and iron goods worth Rs 39.03 billion have been imported. Machinery and spare parts worth Rs 30.01 billion were imported while crude oil worth Rs 27.72 billion was imported in the first six months of the current fiscal year.

In the review period, imports of electric machinery, equipment and their spare parts amounted to Rs 24.61 billion. Similarly, garments worth Rs 19.04 billion were imported.
