Lamjung. The Dumre-Besisahar road, the main road linking Lamjung and Tanahun, has been closed for three days from today. According to the District Administration Office, Lamjung, the road section has been closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm today for the blacktopping of the road section at Besisahar Municipality-1 in Lamjung.
Assistant Chief District Officer Thamman Singh Gautam said, “The Dumre-Besisahar-Chame road administration issued a notice to blacktop the road section damaged by landslide some years ago.” ”
According to him, vehicles are being diverted from the area of Chandi Prasad Battalion Udipur Barrack of Nepal Army. Vehicles are operated in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, among other districts via this road. People from Besisahar as well as the mountainous district of Manang also use this road.
The landslide occurred on June 15, 2021 and July 24, 2021 had swept away the road at the place. The federal government has allocated Rs 111.9 crore for the prevention of the road and blacktopping of about 400 meters of the road in the area. Satish Subedi, chief of Dumre-Besisahar-Chame Road Project, said, “The blacktopping of this road is going on and 85 percent of the landslide prevention work has been completed so far.” ”
