Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Prof. Dr. KATHMANDU: A meeting was held between Bishwanath Poudel and Governor of the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) Fan Kongsang today. The two leaders met in Tianjin of China on Wednesday while attending a program organized by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).

During the meeting, they discussed the opportunities and challenges of cross-border payment system, investment promotion and mutual cooperation. Likewise, the two governors discussed the emerging trends in the financial sector, innovations and the benefits to be gained from technology development.

Discussions were also held on ways to simplify the QR code payment system for citizens of both countries during the visit and reduce its cost. On the occasion, PBOC Governor Fan expressed his readiness to cooperate and modernize the e-payment transaction.

During his visit to China, Governor Poudel said that Nepal Rastra Bank was ready to play active role for the cooperation, coordination and regular dialogue between the two central banks.

Director-General of International Department of People’s Bank of China Zhou Yu, Executive Director of Bank Supervision Department of Nepal Rastra Bank Dirgha Bahadur Rawal and Assistant Director of Office of the Governor Roshan Neupane were also present in the meeting.
