Banke. The administrative buildings under construction at some local levels have remained in limbo due to the negligence of the contractor company.

The administrative buildings of Kohalpur Municipality, Janaki Rural Municipality and Narainapur Rural Municipality are yet to be completed even after a year of the expiry of the deadline. The administrative buildings have been left in limbo due to the tendency of the local level to extend the deadline even if the contractor does not carry out the works.

The Kohalpur Municipality had in 2089 BS awarded the contract to associate Ranjitkar Jaya Bhawani JV to construct the building at a cost of Rs 153.8 million. However, the construction of the building has not been completed even after a year of the expiry of the deadline.

Kohalpur Municipality Mayor Purna Acharya said that the deadline was extended as per the application filed by the contractor, but the work has not progressed satisfactorily.

The administrative building of Janaki Rural Municipality, which was supposed to be completed in 2079 BS, is also similar. The construction of the project was started five years ago at a cost of Rs 422,84,710 but only 80 per cent of the physical progress has been completed so far.

The new administrative building of Narainapur Rural Municipality is yet to be used. Mahalaxmi-Jugal Builders JV had signed a contract on October 14, 2022 for the construction of the building. The local government had extended the deadline for the construction of the building time and again as the work could not be completed on time. Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality, Nawaraj Oli, said that the delay in the construction of the building has caused inconvenience to the people.

Khajura Rural Municipality of Banke district has started its service from the under-construction building of the administrative building. Chief Administrative Officer Dil Bahadur Poudel said that the service has started from the under-construction administrative building at Bigaun of Khajura Rural Municipality-3.

According to him, most of the structures of the administrative building have been completed and only a small amount of work remains. Electricity, wiring and water drainage are being installed. MK Jugal JV is constructing the building at the cost of Rs 536,04,815.
