Qatari delegation and NRB governor hold meeting 

Kathmandu. The Qatari delegation arrived in Kathmandu at the invitation of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and called on Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Prof Dr Bishwanath Poudel at the invitation of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).

During the meeting, a delegation led by Board Member of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mohad Ahmed MA Alobaideli and Governor Poudel discussed about the existing legal provisions for foreign investment in Nepal, banking system and possibilities of investment.

Also present on the occasion were Qatar’s Ambassador to Nepal Mishal Bin Mohammed Ali Al Ansari and President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal.

On the occasion, the Qatari delegation said that Qatari investors were ready for long-term investment if Nepal had stable policy, clear legal framework and banking facilitation.

Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Poudel briefed the meeting about the policy arrangements available for foreign investment in Nepal and said that Nepal has been continuously pursuing policy reforms by prioritizing foreign investment.

Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry board member Mohad Ahmed MA Alobaideli said the private sector of Qatar was interested in investing in Nepal and there was a possibility of collaborating in various areas of banking, tourism, information technology and human resources development.

He expressed the view that Qatari investment could be brought to Nepal if there was a clear roadmap for investment. FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal said the FNCCI was playing active role in facilitating foreign investment in Nepal.

He said the FNCCI was committed to facilitating the investment process through private sector-private sector collaboration, government-private sector dialogue and institutional mechanism.
