Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has made public its commitment letter with the goal of achieving 10 per cent economic growth rate in the next five years. The commitment paper unveiled at a programme organised at the party office in Parisdanda today has set a target of reducing the multidimensional poverty rate from 20.15 per cent to 5 per cent during the period.
Here are the commitments:
• Achieve a growth rate of more than 10 percent in the next five years (double digits) through rational and sustainable and production-oriented use of natural resources, increase in domestic and foreign investment, development and expansion of production system based on collectivism and cooperation, efficient allocation of resources, significant increase in spending capacity, increase in production and employment, inclusive development and alternative financial mobilization.
Reduce the multidimensional poverty from the current 20.15 percent to 5 percent within five years by reducing the economic and social inequality through effective mobilization of resources.
• To protect and promote the sectors of production, including agriculture and industry, through the policy of state-protected agriculture and industrialization.
Gradually reduce import dependency by making production-oriented, export promotion and self-reliant economy.
• Linking foreign investment to production, technology transfer and job creation by enhancing the investment capacity of the domestic private sector.
• Achieve solid growth in production and employment in agriculture, industry, tourism, energy, information technology and service sectors.
• Lay the foundation for a green and digital economy through judicious use of natural resources.
To prepare a solid base for socialism-oriented economy through a balanced and complementary development model among private, cooperative and public sector.
· To develop each province as a special economic activity zone on the basis of potential.
· Employment will be provided to the youth human resources in the country by productively utilizing the barren land, rivers, streams, forests, minerals and biological resources owned by the public and private owners.
· An additional 150,000 jobs will be added every year to ensure 500,000 jobs annually in order to maximise the demographic dividend.
· In order to utilize the knowledge, skills, experience and capital of the human resources abroad for employment, self-employment and investment, at least 1 lakh returnees will be made entrepreneurs by running the Returnee Entrepreneurship Program.
· Programs will be implemented with the government for the knowledge and skills of the poor.
· Special employment programs will be implemented for the poor, backward and marginalized communities.
