Kathmandu. Most of the political parties and first-past-the-post candidates participating in the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives have submitted their manifestos to the Election Commission.
Joint Secretary at the Election Commission, Yagya Prasad Bhattarai, said that various political parties and candidates have started submitting their manifestos as per the directives of the Election Commission and the details are yet to be received.
The Rastriya Swatantra Party, Ujjyalo Party Nepal and Nepal Workers and Peasants Party have also released their election manifestos. Though the party was preparing to unveil its manifesto in Kathmandu today, it was decided to unveil it from Madhes Province on February 6, said party Spokesperson Devraj Chalise.
CPN-UML is preparing to release its election manifesto by February 17, said party’s election publicity coordinator Min Bahadur Shahi. The Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Janata Samajbadi Party, Rastriya Janamorcha, among other political parties have already issued their manifestos.
Earlier, the Election Commission had directed the government to make public the election manifesto and submit it by March 14.
According to Clause 37 of the Election Code of Conduct, 2082, the political parties participating in the election have been directed to submit the candidates of the first-past-the-post (first-past) category to the Election Commission and the concerned election offices as per Clause 57 of the Political Parties Act, 2073.
