Damn. CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the situation has reached to find roads that have not been blacktopped in his area.

He said this while addressing an interaction program with three-wheeler drivers at Damak of Jhapa today. Chairman Oli said, “I should have carried a spade in my vehicle while campaigning in this constituency for the first time.” Except for the East-West Highway, there was no blacktopped road in other areas. ”

According to him, the government has to move in search of a blacktopped road, especially after the formation of the CPN-UML-led government after 2072 BS. Oli claims that Nepal has made an extraordinary leap in the last 10 years from 2072 to 82 BS.

More than 6,000 three-wheeler city rickshaws are in operation in Damak Municipality alone. Almost all the roads in the city have been blacktopped. As a result, it has become easier to operate such a large number of three-wheelers. According to Oli, 6,000 workers have been provided employment on a daily basis.

“The CPN-UML will continue to fight for the welfare of the poor and low-income working class and ending hunger,” he said. Stating that food, shelter, cotton, education, health and employment were mandatory in the Constitution of Nepal, he said Nepal has reached the phase of ending hunger.

Chairman Oli claimed that such legal provisions have been made for the welfare of workers in the context of the government under his leadership. The CPN-UML has prepared the policy and rules keeping in mind the working class who work all day but do not get to eat in the morning and evening. This has now opened the way for laborers to fight hunger legally.

City drivers are obliged to know the general traffic rules while driving on the road. Oli stressed on the need to make the process of obtaining the license smooth and qualitative in view of the possible risk of major loss due to accidents.

One of the city drivers shared his ordeal with Oli and said, “I have been driving a city rickshaw without a license for the last 9 years. Even when I went to the transport office time and again for the license, the paper process was not given. Since I have no other job, I am running the city without a license. Driving without a license is also a big risk to my life,” the worker told his chairman on condition of anonymity.

After hearing the driver’s complaint, Chairman Oli directed the concerned office not to stop the work by putting any legal hurdles. He stressed that the situation of not issuing licenses to the transport companies but driving at risk for years should be different.

On the occasion, GEFONT Chairman Meghnath Subedi said that due to lack of coordination between the local level and the transport office, there is no uniformity in revenue. According to him, the municipality has started the registration process by charging Rs 600 per city annual tax. However, he said that he charges Rs 6,000 per city annually from the transport office. He demanded the renewal of the Blue Book and insurance for the revenue workers.
