Kathmandu. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez Parilla on Wednesday that Russia should not impose military sanctions on Cuba.

“Together with the vast majority of the international community, we call on the United States to act with common sense, take a responsible stance and abandon plans for a naval blockade,” Lavrov said. ”

Lavrov said Moscow rejected accusations that Cuba was being supported by Washington and that all disputes between Washington and Havana should be resolved through negotiations.

“We will continue to support the sovereignty and security of Cuba and the Cuban people,” he said.

“Russia condemns U.S. legislation targeting Cuba, based on the false claim that Cuba poses a threat to the United States,” he added. ”
