Kathmandu. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Investment Board Nepal, Sushil Gyewali, has said that strategic investments are indispensable to reap the benefits of digital economy.
In his virtual address to the Nepal-India Tech Forum 2026 organized in India, Gyawali said that there is a huge potential in the digital economy. He insisted on planned and long-term investment to realize the potential.
“The government has developed various legal, policy and institutional structures, including the framework for digital Nepal,” he said.
Nepal could become an attractive destination for investment in the areas of data center, IT park and other sectors as energy required for the infrastructure of emerging technologies including artificial intelligence could be available at a cheaper rate, the possibility of technology-savvy youths and natural cooling system in high hilly and mountainous areas.
Gyawali stressed on the need for a parallel and systematic approach at the business level between the governments of Nepal and India as well as the private sector to maximize the benefits of increasing investment in digital economy and IT sector.
On the occasion, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs of India, Mr. Munu Mahawar, Ambassador of Nepal to India Dr. Dr. Shankar Sharma, former ambassador of India to Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri and other experts from various fields were present on the occasion.
