Kathmandu. Iran has declared 40 days of state mourning following the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has marked a 40-day national mourning and a seven-day holiday.

Iran has expressed grief over the death of Khamenei in the US and Israeli strikes. Iran’s state media said Khamenei was under attack by the US and Israel.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump had said that Khamenei was dead. Israeli officials also told international media that Khamenei’s body had been found in the rubble.

More than 40 senior Iranian officials have been killed in a joint US-Israel strike.

Khamenei, 86, was Iran’s ultimate decision-maker on all political and religious matters.
