Udaya Singh Bista, information officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, said that there has been a significant increase in imports in the current fiscal year. “The share of import of petroleum products and iron and iron products is higher in the current fiscal year,” he said. Nepal imported goods worth Rs 460.23 billion in the first seven months of the last fiscal year.
In the first seven months of the current fiscal year, petroleum products worth Rs 106.43 billion have been imported. Likewise, iron and iron goods worth Rs 46.16 billion were imported. Likewise, Nepal imported machinery and spare parts worth Rs 35.87 billion in the review period. Crude oil worth Rs 35.67 billion was imported. According to the Customs Office, imported electronic machinery, equipment and their spare parts worth Rs 27.98 billion.
