U.S. attack on Iran’s new Supreme Leader

Kathmandu. Israel and the United States stormed the Iranian Supreme Leader building on Tuesday, local media reported. The attack caused serious damage to the building and it was decided not to use it for the meeting.

Former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a US attack on Saturday.TAG_OPEN_div_15 After Khamenei’s death, Iran announced on Sunday that it would start a process to elect a new leader. There were no immediate reports of casualties, though buildings were damaged in Tuesday’s attack.

According to local media, the building is responsible for appointing, supervising and possibly dismissing the Supreme Leader.TAG_OPEN_div_13 The central offices of the Expert Assembly and other government officials were targeted in the attack.

The Interim Leadership Council of Iran will take over the administrative functions of the country until the election and appointment of the permanent Supreme Leader are completed.TAG_OPEN_div_11 The council consists of the president, judiciary chiefs, jurists and top security chief, Ali Larijani.
