Myagdi. A trekking route linking Rahughat to Piple garden of Raghuganga rural municipality-3 has been constructed.

The traditional trekking route used by the residents of wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 and 8 of Raghuganga Rural Municipality to travel to and from the district headquarters Beni has been reconstructed.

Lekhnath Sharma, chairperson of the users’ committee, said that the trekking route was constructed from Rahughat towards the garden with 80-metre concrete steps and 137-metres with iron railing.

According to him, the Gandaki state government had allocated Rs 500,000 in the current fiscal year 2082/83 for the construction of the trekking route.

The trekking route, which was displaced after the opening of the road two decades ago, has been damaged due to landslides in recent times, which has made it difficult for Malami to bring dead bodies to the ghat. Narayan Subedi, a resident of the garden, said that they have been able to travel safely after the construction of trekking route and railings in steep and difficult terrain.

Hari Bahadur Bhandari, a member of the Gandaki Province Assembly elected from Myagdi 1 (a), said initiatives would be taken to allocate budget by including it in the upcoming year’s annual plan to give a completion to the task of systematizing the trekking route used by the people of the big settlement of the district.
