Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Federation of Gas Dealers Association Nepal has demanded action against industrialists and dealers for creating artificial shortage of cooking gas in the market.  The federation has also demanded the government to take legal action against anyone who is charging more than the price fixed by the government.

Issuing a press release on Tuesday, the Federation said that its serious attention has been drawn to the news that there is a shortage of cooking gas in the market and in some places the vendors are injuring the consumers by charging unreasonable prices. “Due to the recent unrest in the Middle East, it is natural for consumers to be worried that they will not be able to get gas in the future,” the federation said.

However, the Federation has concluded that it is a serious crime to sell and distribute LPG at more than the price fixed by the government by taking advantage of such adverse situation. Issuing a press release, the Federation has appealed to the general sellers across the country not to carry out any illegal activities and to provide service responsibly.

The federation has also demanded the government to identify the vendors and gas industrialists who cheat consumers during the time of crisis and take stern legal action. The federation has also directed all the district associations to inform the vendors across the country that action will be taken against anyone involved in such illegal activities.
