Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Hemraj Sharma has been elected the president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA).
Rabin Bajracharya of the United States of America withdrew his candidacy in support of Hemraj Sharma.
Japan’s Robin Sherchan, who had announced his candidacy for the post of vice-president, had already announced his candidacy for the post of vice-president. Other posts will also be elected unopposed for the post of president.
The NRNA, which has been embroiled in controversy for the last 5 years, has been united this time. However, former president Shesh Ghale is not present.
Sharma, who has no business background, has been elected president for the first time after the beginning of the Non-Resident Nepali Campaign. So far, the presidents have been businessmen. Sharma is a professor at the University of Liverpool, UK.
