Kailali Customs collects Rs 5.40 billion in revenue

Kailali. Kailali Customs Office Dhangadhi has collected Rs 5.40 billion in revenue in the last seven months. The office collected this amount of revenue from mid-July to mid-March of the current fiscal year 2082/83.

The office collected Rs 2.84 billion as customs duty, Rs 2.07 billion as Value Added Tax, Rs 105.6 million as excise duty and Rs 1.21 billion as other tax, said Information Officer at the Customs Office, Prakash Timilsina.

According to him, the office has set the target of collecting Rs 9.71 billion revenue in the current fiscal year. The revenue collected in the first eight months was 55.67 per cent of the target, he said.

The revenue collection target has not been achieved in any month of the current fiscal year. Information Officer Timilsina said that the office collected only Rs 72.54 million against the target of Rs 71.61 crore in July, Rs 53.7 crore against the target of Rs 74.21 crore in August, 67.78 crore in September and Rs 72.54 crore against the target of Rs 84.67 crore in October.

Similarly, the revenue collection in December was Rs 68.91 crore against the target of Rs 78.33 crore, Rs 74.65 crore against the target of Rs 81.25 crore in December, Rs 68.82 crore against the target of Rs 76.9 crore in January and Rs 76.44 crore against the target of Rs 77.14 crore in the month of February.

In the last fiscal year 2081/82, the target could not be reached. Information Officer Timilsina said that only Rs 8.66 billion revenue was collected against the target of Rs 11.16 billion in the last fiscal year. This is only 77.67 percent of the annual target.
