Kathmandu. Israel’s military says a senior Hamas naval commander has been killed in a targeted strike in Gaza.

Yunus Mohammed Hussein Aaliyan, the commander of Hamas’ naval unit in the northern Gaza region, was killed in Monday’s attack, the Israel Defense Forces and the Internal Security Agency said in a joint statement.

He is in charge of operations, training and weapons preparation of the naval forces.

The statement accused him of rebuilding the capabilities of his unit in recent weeks and planning possible attacks. During the attack, precautions were taken to avoid harm to the public.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Red Crescent and local health sources said three Palestinians were killed and 14 wounded in Tuesday’s airstrikes in the southern Gaza area of al-Mawasi.

According to Gaza’s health agency, the number of deaths in the region since October 7, 2023 has reached 72,249 and 171,898 people have been injured. The regional conflict seems to be intensifying.
