Kathmandu. After Israel killed two senior Iranian security officials, Iran has responded with missiles and drones to neighboring countries in the Gulf region and Israel.
Iran has confirmed that it fired a multi-warhead missile into central Israel after the deaths of senior Iranian officials Ali Larijani and General Golam Reza Solimani. Two people were killed and others were injured in the attack.
There have also been Iranian missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and other Arab countries, which have been prevented by air defense systems.
After the Iranian missile attack, Israel has carried out airstrikes on Basij posts around Tehran. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the attack as an “attempt to weaken the Iranian regime”.
Iran maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz, which transports about a fifth of the world’s oil. The United States has also continued to invade and threaten the region.
Israel has continued its airstrikes on Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon. At least six people were killed and 24 wounded in the attack in central Beirut.
The conflict signals a deepening of the Middle East’s humanitarian, economic and security crisis.
