The Pentagon has asked the White House for “substantial financial assistance” for a possible war with Iran. According to a report in The Washington Post, the Pentagon has requested more than two hundred billion US dollars in budget allocations to the White House.
The report quoted a senior administration official as saying that the amount is much larger than the actual cost of the campaign in Iran so far. The main objective is to speed up the production of weapons that have already been spent and are needed.
Over the past two weeks, the Pentagon has submitted funding requests at various times. According to experts, the demand for such a money increase is likely to lead to a major political controversy in the US Congress.
Neither the US Department of Defense nor the White House commented on the report at the time of writing.
