Rs 5.37 billion spent on elections, an average of Rs 284 spent by a voter

Kathmandu. The Election Commission (EC) has made public the final expenditure details of the election to the House of Representatives. A total of Rs 5.37 billion was spent in the elections held on March 4.

The EC had demanded Rs 7.81 billion for the election purpose. However, only Rs 6.76 billion was approved from the Ministry of Finance. Out of the agreements, Rs 3.54 billion has been spent so far and the total expenditure will come to Rs 5.37 billion, including the remaining liabilities, according to the commission.

An analysis of election expenses shows that the average expenditure per voter was Rs 284.
