Banke. Nepalgunj Customs Office has collected 52 per cent of the target revenue in the first eight months of the current fiscal year.
Janardan Poudel, chief of Nepalgunj Customs Office, said that the government collected Rs 12.75 billion or 51.97 per cent of the target in the first eight months of the current fiscal year 2082/83 against the annual target of Rs 24.54 billion.
According to him, there is a challenge to collect 48 per cent revenue in the remaining four months to meet the target. According to the monthly target of the Customs Office, no revenue has been collected in any month so far.
Only 74, 69, 87, 72, 83, 83 and 88 per cent of the target has been collected in the months of July, August, September, October, November, December and January of the current fiscal year. In the last fiscal year 2081/82, Nepalgunj customs office had collected 74.64 percent of the target, while in the previous fiscal 2080/81, it had collected 63.35 percent revenue.
According to Poudel, the customs revenue was expected to increase after the operation of the integrated check post at Jamunahana on the Nepal-India border.
Nepalgunj Customs Office collected Rs 1.35 billion out of the target of Rs 1.86 billion in the current fiscal year, while Rs 1.35 billion was collected in the first half of the current fiscal year.
Similarly, 87.83 per cent of the target was Rs 1.74 billion in October, Rs 1.53 billion was Rs 1.53 billion against the target of Rs 2.12 billion in October, and 83.45 per cent of the target was Rs 1.63 billion in November. In the month of January, Rs 1.69 billion was collected against the target of Rs 2.03 billion, in the month of January, Rs 1.70 billion out of the target of Rs 1.93 billion, and in February, Rs 1.93 billion was collected in the month of February.
According to the statistics of the Nepalgunj Customs Office, the revenue collected in the year 2081/82 was 73.67 per cent of the target, 66.62 per cent of the target in August, 66.91 per cent in September, 76.44 per cent in October, 76.44 per cent in October, 76.27 per cent in November, 71.15 per cent in December, 75.13 per cent in January and 73.68 per cent in February.
