Import of Rs 1.289 trillion rises to Rs 1.91 trillion, trade deficit widens by 11.22 percent

Kathmandu. Imports amounted to Rs 1,289.25 billion in the first eight months of the current fiscal year 2082/83. It is 12.54 percent more than the same period last year.

In the same period of the last fiscal year, goods worth Rs 1145.56 billion were imported.

During the period, exports increased by 20.83 percent to Rs 191.11 billion. Nepal had exported goods worth Rs 158.17 billion in the same period last year.

According to the Department of Customs, the import-export ratio has decreased from 7.24 percent to 6.75 percent.

Nepal’s trade deficit increased by 11.22 percent to Rs 1098.13 billion in the first eight months of the current fiscal year. In the same period of the last fiscal year, the company had collected Rs. 987.39 billion.
