Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump has threatened to destroy Iran’s power plants if Iran does not fully open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours. He wrote on his social media, “Everything will be destroyed, starting with the largest power plant. ”

The Strait of Hormuz is very important for global energy and trade routes. About one-fifth of the world’s oil and natural gas supplies through this route. Regional tensions have reached a high level.

Iran’s main military command has warned that if its energy infrastructure is attacked, the United States and Israel will retaliate against energy, information technology and water supply infrastructure. Trump’s threat came as he said on Friday that the US was considering reducing military operations in the Middle East. But he said he was not preparing for a ceasefire with Tehran.

At the same time, the joint U.S.-Israeli campaign has entered its fourth week, disrupting global water transport and driving up oil prices. The price of oil has increased by about 50 percent. The US Treasury Department has temporarily lifted the ban on Iranian oil for 30 days so that oil supplies are not affected due to the disruption of the Hormuz session.

Iran’s foreign minister said the session had not been closed, but there had been some restrictions on the ships of the hostile countries. He also said Iran was ready to safely allow ships from other countries to pass through the country. ”
