Import worth Rs 600 billion from Birgunj border point in seven months

Kathmandu. In the first seven months of the current fiscal year, goods worth Rs 595.46 billion have entered Nepal through the Birgunj checkpoint.

According to the Birgunj Customs Office, goods imported goods worth Rs 58.91 billion or 11 per cent more in the same period of the last fiscal year compared to the same period of the last fiscal year. In the first seven months of the last fiscal year, goods worth Rs 5.36 billion entered the country through this checkpoint.

Udaya Singh Bista, information officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, said that petroleum products and iron goods were imported through this checkpoint.

Imports of five types of petroleum products amounted to Rs 123.67 billion while imports of iron and iron goods worth Rs 52.75 billion in the same period of the current fiscal year.

Imports included machinery parts worth Rs 42.48 billion, soybean oil worth Rs 41.20 billion, electric machinery, equipment and spare parts worth Rs 30.91 billion, fertiliser worth Rs 28.59 billion and textiles worth Rs 23.71 billion.
