. Sunil Lamsal, who was elected to the House of Representatives from Rupandehi-1 on March 4, is an engineer by profession.
Lamsal, who has been living permanently with his family in Tilottama Municipality-7 of Rupandehi since 1992, was born in Birgha of Kaligandaki Rural Municipality of Syangja district.TAG_OPEN_div_40
Raised in a simple family in the hills, Sunil is the second child of three sons of father Bodhraj Lamsal and mother Jamuna Lamsal.TAG_OPEN_div_38 Lamsal completed his schooling in Bhalbari of Rupandehi and completed his higher education from the local Lumbini Engineering College. Lamsal, who was involved in politics from the student union close to the CPN (UML) during his student days, was also elected the president of the same campus on the ANNFSU ticket.

Minister Lamsal completed his Bachelor’TAG_OPEN_div_32 s Degree in Civil Engineering and Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering. He is pursuing a PhD on ‘Solid Waste Management’ at Kathmandu University. He believes that in order to have clear development outcomes, the cost, timeline, quality standards and monitoring system should be clear while planning.
After the local elections of 2079 BS, Minister Lamsal worked as an infrastructure advisor to Mayor Balendra Shah in Kathmandu Metropolitan City.TAG_OPEN_div_30 He has been explaining waste management not only as a matter of sanitation but also as a structural issue related to environmental balance, public health and human rights. According to him, the problem will recur without scientific, long-term and community-friendly solutions.
