Traffic resumes on BP Highway

Kabhrepalanchok. Vehicular movement along the BP Highway has been obstructed due to flooded Roshi River following Friday evening’s rainfall since 6:00 am today. The District Police Office has urged the public to travel considering the adverse weather although two-way traffic is allowed on the road.

The highway has been obstructed for the past two days after a temporary road in Roshi area was washed away by the incessant rainfall since Friday.TAG_OPEN_div_10 According to the office, the diversion road has been brought into operation temporarily after the water level in the rivulet receded. Earlier, the office had been restricting the movement of vehicles until the highway was opened.

The flood had swept away about four kilometers of diversion from Chaukidanda to Nepalthok of Roshi area.TAG_OPEN_div_8 Efforts have been made to construct a temporary diversion with the help of Department of Roads, Nepal Police, Traffic Police and locals since this morning. The Chaukidanda-Nepalthok road section was completely damaged by floods and landslides in September last year.

Friday’s floods and landslides at Biruwadanda, Kaldhanga, Chaukidanda and Mangaltar had swept away the road at different places along the highway.TAG_OPEN_div_6 Vehicular movement along the highway has been stopped at Kavrebhanjyang and Bhakunde of Dhulikhel and Nepalthok and Mangaltar from the east.
