Bagmati. The number of women industrialists has increased in Makawanpur district in the last few years. The number of women entrepreneurs has increased in Makwanpur after the government made a provision for only 50 percent of the registration of women entrepreneurs.

According to Ram Prasad Bhusal, chief of the Office of Industry and Commerce, out of 304 new industries registered in Makwanpur in the first eight months of the fiscal year 2020/83, 168 were registered in the name of women.

Most of the businesses registered in the name of women are general stores, tailoring and beauty parlours, while most of the industries are agriculture and fish and animal husbandry.

According to Bhusal, the government’s relaxation in the registration of industries registered in the name of women, the local administration making it stricter for the registration of entrepreneurs and banks and financial institutions to invest in the business are some of the reasons for the registration of small and cottage industries.

According to the Office of Industry and Commerce, 40 industries have been listed, 15 in places, 948 in renewal, 43 in duplicate, 73 in record deduction and 28 in addition.

Likewise, under the commercial sector, five nomenclature, seven in place, 27 industries in capital increase, 1,054 industries were renewed, 93 industries were registered and objectives of 37 industries were added during the period.

Chief Bhusal said that Rs 131,84,159 revenue was collected under the headings of registration, renewal and registration of new industries and commerce.
