Jumla. Jumla: The Road Division Office in Jumla has started the process to terminate four sick contracts under the Karnali Highway road section.
According to Saurabh Kumar Singh, information officer at the Road Division Office, Jumla, a 15-day public notice was issued regarding the termination of the contract after the contractor failed to complete the project on time.
The Office has forwarded the process to terminate the contract of four patients under the Karnali Highway. Road Information Officer Singh said that the Division Office has issued a public notice as part of the process of terminating the contractors of two in Kalikot, one on Nagma-Gamgadi road section of Mugu and one on the road linking Manang-Mustang via Jumla Dolpa.
Out of the contracts being executed in Kalikot, Jumla and Mugu districts under the Road Division in the fiscal year 2078/79, the contract for the first package of curved structures and footpath along the Manang-Mustang and Dolpa-Jumla road was terminated due to the agreement with Kashiyaya Construction Service, Kalanki, Kathmandu.
Similarly, in the fiscal year 2076/77, the contract for the improvement of Nagma-Gamgadi road was signed with Shankar Mali Construction Service in Kathmandu and in the fiscal year 2075/76, two contracts were signed with Man Shahi Construction Service Kalikot for the improvement of the road from Dahikhola to Nagma Bazaar. According to Shrawan Kumar Mahatara, officiating chief of the Road Division Office, the contract was terminated as per Clause 59 (2) of the Public Procurement Act, 2063 BS as the contractor failed to fulfill its obligations despite repeated requests in writing and verbally.
Stating that the notice was issued to cancel the contract as per the agreement, Mahatara said that the contractors failing to complete the works as per the prevailing rules would be punished with other legal action including forfeiture of their guarantees.
According to him, four contracts were signed within the jurisdiction of the Road Division Office from fiscal year 2075/76 to 2078/79 BS.
According to the Road Division Office, the contractors have been requested to leave the work place as soon as possible as per the contract agreement and to contact the contractor office within the published notice if any works that are yet to be paid as per the contract agreement are completed.
