Kathmandu. Work to widen the Ghorahi-Lamahi road section has begun. Although the work of opening the road is going on in the bend and narrow space, it is being developed as a four-lane road.
Chief of the Road Division Office, Dipendra Bista, said that the road expansion works are being carried out with the aim of completing it within the current fiscal year. Earlier, many road accidents were common due to the narrow road. At a time when the risk of road accidents is increasing, it is expected that the road expansion along with improvement in modes will ease the operation of vehicles.
Bista said that the road widening work is underway on the Lamahi-Ghorahi road section after cutting through the risky turns and allowing vehicles to operate. In order to increase the width of the road in the narrow area and to make the traffic easier by managing the increasing vehicular traffic, works are being carried out to widen the road by constructing a wall in the area where the soil cannot be cut. Saying the road widening works are going on, he said, “The road expansion works are being carried out in order to open the Lamahi-Ghorahi road. ’
According to the Division Road Office, works are underway to widen the 17-km road section from Kuirepani of Ghorahi sub-metropolis-3 to Arjunkhola of Lamahi municipality-6.
Under the Ghorahi-Lamahi road improvement program, improvement works are being carried out at different points to cutting and wall construction in narrow spaces. Bista said works are underway to open the narrow road from Arjunkhola of Lamahi to Chaupatta Mandir of Ghorahi by signing three contracts worth Rs 201.35 million.
According to him, a contract agreement has been signed with Shree Munal-KV-Sunil and Bijaya JV Dang for the construction of the Kuirepani to Masotkhola road section at a cost of Rs 134.66 million and the contract from Masot Khola to Arjun Khola at a cost of Rs 68 million. He said that the road from Chaupatta to Arjun Khola is being constructed with the aim of completing the road improvement work within the current fiscal year.
