Collaboration with international community for investment promotion and private sector development appreciated: Chair Dhakal

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has said that the investment promotion and development of the private sector have made remarkable achievements in collaboration with the international community.

Addressing a program organized with the diplomatic community and development partners in the capital on Tuesday, Chairman Dhakal said the relations between FNCCI and foreign partners have reached new heights in the past years. He stressed the need of cooperation from international development partners and diplomatic channels for Nepal’s economic development and empowerment of the private sector.

“Collaboration with the FNCCI and the diplomatic community and development partners has played an important role in strengthening the private sector of Nepal. Your cooperation in the areas ranging from policy dialogue to investment promotion and capacity building has helped us a lot to move forward. I am confident that the new leadership of FNCCI will further strengthen its relations with diplomatic and development partners. Dhakal said.

Appreciating the role played by the diplomatic community in expanding the economic relations between Nepal and various countries, Dhakal said that their contribution to the promotion of trade, investment and business-to-business relations has created new opportunities. President Dhakal has worked

closely with development partners during his tenure.

He expressed gratitude to them for their guidance, openness and constructive dialogue.

“Development partners, in particular, have made significant contributions to the development, entrepreneurship promotion, and institutional strengthening of Nepal’s private sector, especially small and medium enterprises,” he added. Dhakal said that joint efforts in green development, skill development, innovation and inclusive business sectors have started yielding positive results.

Stating that the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) is the largest umbrella organisation of the private sector in the country, he said FNCCI has been continuously working as a bridge between the government, private sector and international partners. According to him, the FNCCI has worked towards strengthening policy advocacy, making dialogue with the government effective and creating investment-friendly environment during its tenure. He also said that the federation is also focusing on emerging areas such as start-ups, digital economy and green business.

“The international community has continued its support to Nepal even in the challenging times reflects its trust and commitment,” he said. Stating that Nepal is at a crucial phase of economic development, he underscored the need of more investment, partnership and continued collaboration in the days ahead.
