. Israel’s military said it had withstood a wave of missile attacks from Iran on Thursday morning. The attack came just days after US President Donald Trump addressed the US public on war-related issues.
After the first attack, police said they had deployed security personnel to various affected areas in central Israel. According to media reports, around nine places have been affected. Four people had minor injuries in the Tel Aviv region, the report said, citing doctors.
Israeli media said the attack caused extensive damage and could be attributed to the use of cluster munitions. Such weapons explode in the air and scatter small bombs. Iran and Israel have accused each other of using cluster bombs in the past.
About six hours after the first attack, the Israeli military said it had again identified missiles fired from Iran in three phases. Air raid sirens were sounded in much of northern and central Israel.
The military’s Home Front Command later said residents across the country were allowed to evacuate. There were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage from the latest attacks.
Earlier on Wednesday, 14 people, including an 11-year-old girl, were wounded in an Iranian missile attack as the Jewish community prepared for the Passover.
According to the Home Front Command, air raid sirens were sounded in northern Israel early Thursday morning in the early hours of Thursday in Lebanon.
Iran’s ally Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, which has joined the war since March 2, said it had fired rockets and carried out drone attacks on villages targeting Israeli forces in border areas.
No casualties or damage have been reported so far.
