On Wednesday, he met with top Saudi officials to create conditions for a second round of peace talks between Washington and Tehran.

“After his visit to Saudi Arabia, his delegation has arrived in Doha and is expected to meet the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani,” a statement from Sharif’s office said. ”

He will also exchange views on Pakistan’s efforts for regional and global peace, his office said.

Sharif is scheduled to travel to Turkey after his visit to the Middle East.

High-level talks between the US and Iranian delegations in Islamabad over the weekend failed to reach an agreement. After a two-week ceasefire began on 7 April, talks in Pakistan failed to reach an immediate agreement on ending the war in the Middle East permanently.

Doha was forced to halt liquefied natural gas (LNG) production at the start of the war that began in late February due to attacks on Qatar’s energy infrastructure.

The U.S., which shares a border with the vast southern Pars gas field with Iran, is one of the major producers of LNG, along with Australia and Russia. Qatar is a major supplier to Asian countries, including Pakistan.
