Kathmandu. The Hetauda Cement Industry, which has been facing economic crisis for a long time, has been shut down due to lack of raw materials.

Last month, the clinker factory stopped production after it failed to get raw materials.

“We do not have raw materials like coal, stone. There is no possibility of raw materials coming immediately, even though the agreement was signed for raw materials, the contractor has not been able to transport the raw materials due to lack of funds,” said Bhakti Ram Shrestha, assistant manager of the factory. The factory has the capacity to produce 16,000 sacks of cement daily.

During the production of clinker, there was some problem in the machine, so the machine is being repaired. Due to lack of funds, the employees have not received their salaries for 10 months.

The factory has 166 permanent employees, 100 daily wage earners and 52 security personnel.

The factory established in 2033 BS at Lamsure of Hetauda had started production of cement in 2043 BS.
