Rukum East. The Mid-Hill Highway in Rukum (East) has been obstructed due to rain on Saturday evening.
The highway has been obstructed due to landslides at dozens of places due to heavy rains. Other auxiliary roads have also been obstructed due to landslides, said Assistant Sub Inspector Bir Bahadur Thapa, chief of the Traffic Police Office.
According to him, landslides have occurred at Dhaulapahira, Kandabagar, Kimubot, Suntalabari, Saipatung, Kakri and Sita among other places along the Mid-Hill Highway. Similarly, landslides have occurred at two places in Muru and the road section has also been obstructed due to the landslide.
Assistant Sub Inspector Thapa said efforts were underway to clear the debris by coordinating with an excavator of Bhume rural municipality and urged all not to travel except the most essential ones as it would be risky to travel until the weather improves.
Power supply has also been disrupted in Rukum East since around 6 pm on Saturday. The hailstorm accompanied by the rain has damaged the wheat crop.
