Kathmandu. On the occasion of the 71st anniversary of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), a group of employees showed a black banner to Governor Prof Dr Bishwanath Poudel. Employees have boycotted the anniversary program organized today.
The employees of the central bank have said that they had to protest today after the governor of the central bank traveled abroad for more time than fulfilling their demands, stopped the promotion of the employees who have been stalled since October on various pretexts, did not pay attention to the work to be done, postponed their demands saying that they are looking after them, and spent more time outside the office than in the office.
The Nepal Rastra Bank Employees Association (NRB) has boycotted today’s program saying it did not work in the interest of the employees. Geeta Pokharel Lamsal, the immediate past president of Nepal Rastra Bank Employees’ Union, said that it was heartbreaking to protest by displaying black banners at the gate on the occasion of the anniversary. “Today is our day,” she said, adding, “We had to boycott the program out of compulsion, not out of our wish.” ’
