Kathmandu. The government has decided to sack 1,594 office-bearers of various boards, committees and corporations on political grounds. The decision will come into effect as soon as it is published in the Nepal Gazette.

After it is published in the Gazette, a letter will be sent to the concerned officials informing them of the formal removal from their posts. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, their appointments will be automatically revoked.

According to the government, the names of the officials of some bodies have not been included in the list due to technical reasons or vacancy.

The joint secretary of the concerned ministry or the senior-most employee of the organization will be given the responsibility of acting or acting chief so that the work of the bodies that have been relieved from their posts is not obstructed.

Meanwhile, the government plans to proceed with the new appointment process on the basis of open competition and merit in the coming days. The appointment will be made in a transparent manner as per the relevant Act.
