Banke. The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Nepalgunj Distribution Centre has disconnected the power supply of more than five thousand service recipients for not paying their electricity bills on time.

According to Sanjay Kumar Mishra, chief of Nepalgunj Distribution Centre of Nepal Electricity Authority, Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has disconnected the power supply of some 5,500 consumers who have not paid their dues for a long time in the past five months.

According to him, the Nepalgunj Distribution Centre has been able to recover around five crore rupees after the dues collection campaign started by disconnecting the line of customers who have not paid the dues for a long time. “In the last five months, we have disconnected the lines of about 5,500 customers. This has increased the arrears to around Rs 63 million”, he said, adding, “Out of the 4,500 consumers who have cut the power line, some Rs 50 million dues have been recovered after the reconnection of power lines.” ”

The distribution center has been continuously conducting dues recovery campaign by disconnecting the line of customers who have not paid the dues for a long time. Centre Chief Mishra said the monitoring has been intensified for improving power supply and controlling irregularities.

There is a legal provision that the electricity tariff should be paid within 60 days. Consumers who fail to pay bills within that period will now be automatically penalized. According to him, the line break campaign of customers who do not pay their dues has made the customers aware to pay their bills on time.

In a bid to improve electricity service and control leakage in Banke district, the Nepalgunj Distribution Centre has been monitoring the condition of irrigation, household and other consumers even on public holidays in order to improve electricity service and control electricity leakage.

Electricity supply in Banke district has improved in the last few months due to improvement in service and leakage control. With the addition of new feeders, the problem of overload has reduced and the supply will not be disrupted during the summer season, said Mishra.

The Nepalgunj distribution center, No-Light branch, is removing bare wires and expanding the cable at important places. According to him, the maintenance section has taken necessary precautionary measures to prevent supply disruption through regular monitoring, which has further improved power theft, misuse and service delivery.
