. As many as 45 telecom service providers operating across the country have not paid Rs 353.6 crore royalty to the government. According to the information received from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the amount is yet to be recovered on the basis of the financial statement of the fiscal year 2080/81.
According to Rule 26 of the Telecommunications Rules, 2054, an organization licensed to provide telecommunication services has to pay 4 percent of its total annual income to the Government of Nepal every year as royalty.TAG_OPEN_div_6 However, according to the report submitted by various service providers, out of the total income of Rs 8.84 billion, it was found that 4 percent of the royalty of Rs 353.684 million was not paid.
