Kathmandu. Bagmati Province has collected revenue of Rs 31.33 billion in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year 2082/83.
Land registration and vehicle tax are the main sources of revenue collection for the provincial government. Indra Raj Sanjyal, an officer at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Planning Development of Bagmati Province, said that Rs 20.01 billion revenue has been collected from the promotion of land registration and vehicle tax in the fiscal year 2082/83.
According to him, the government has received Rs 7.94 billion in the 10 months period under the equalization grant from the federal government. Likewise, the state government has collected Rs 3.24 billion from internal sources in the fiscal year 2082/83, according to the Ministry.
According to Sanjyal, the revenue collection could not be expected due to the decrease in the purchase and sale of real estate and new vehicles due to the lack of financial liquidity, and the losses incurred by various revenue collection agencies of the state government during the ‘GenG’ agitation on September 7 and 24.
