Milk sale eases in Chitwan, DDC pays for 5 months

Chitwan. Dairy farmers here have been facing problems due to lack of timely payment. Chairman of District Milk Producers’ Cooperatives Association, Chitwan, Kishor Bagale, said that the Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) has not been able to pay the dues since January 30. According to him, payment from some big industrialists is yet to be made for three months.

Payments have also come a little faster than before. However, four to four-and-a-half months of pending payment, no matter the amount, is not a good thing. “We urge the government to make payments to the farmers as soon as possible,” he said.

According to him, farmers have been facing problems in their daily life as they have not received the payment for a long time. He said that along with DDC, other industrialists are expected to provide relief to the farmers by making the payment soon.

The Association has been producing and selling dairy products through its own industry at Ratnanagar for the marketing of its products.

He said that it would be easier to take the machine and use it through the cooperative if needed.
