Milk sale eases in Chitwan, DDC pays for 5 months

Chitwan. Dairy farmers here have been facing problems due to lack of timely payment. Chairman of District Milk Producers’ Cooperatives Association, Chitwan, Kishor Bagale, said that the Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) has not been able to pay the dues since January 30. According to him, payment from some big industrialists is yet to be made for three months.

Bagale said that although there has been some improvement in the payment from DDC in recent times, the problem is still there.TAG_OPEN_div_34 “There is a possibility of some improvement in the DDC,” he said. Payments have also come a little faster than before. However, four to four-and-a-half months of pending payment, no matter the amount, is not a good thing. “We urge the government to make payments to the farmers as soon as possible,” he said.

According to him, farmers have been facing problems in their daily life as they have not received the payment for a long time. He said that along with DDC, other industrialists are expected to provide relief to the farmers by making the payment soon.

The Association has been producing and selling dairy products through its own industry at Ratnanagar for the marketing of its products.

Cow Lift Machine Distributed by Bharatpur Metropolitan City

The Livestock Development Section of Bharatpur Metropolitan City has handed over the cow lift to the Chitwan District Milk Producers’ Cooperatives Association as part of its annual programme for the fiscal year 2082/83.TAG_OPEN_div_24

Three cooperatives were handed over to Chitwan District Milk Producers’ Cooperatives Association, two to Annapurna Dairy Cooperatives and one each to four other cooperatives. A total of 10 machines were distributed, according to KMC Agriculture and Livestock Business Promotion Section Chief Shailendra Bhandari.

The reason for this is not yet clear. After sitting on the cow, there is a problem of not being able to get up for two to three days, such as wounds in the leg. Farmers can’t even raise it themselves. He said that the machines were distributed through cooperatives and unions to solve this problem. He said that it would be easier to take the machine and use it through the cooperative if needed.
