Koshi Province’s economic growth projected at 3.1 per cent

Morang. The economic growth rate of Koshi Province is estimated to be 3.1 percent in the fiscal year 2082/83.

At a programme organized by the National Statistical Office and Statistics Coordination Office, Biratnagar, it was shared that the province has made such a conclusion using the data of the first six to eight months.TAG_OPEN_div_16

According to Dinesh TAG_OPEN_div_14 Bhattarai, director of the National Accounts Section of the Office, the economic growth rate in the province is estimated to be 3.1 percent in consumer price and 2.9 percent in basic prices. Presenting the estimated figures, the size of the economy has been estimated at Rs 1043.11 billion.

On the occasion, Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning of Koshi Province, Bidur Kumar Lingthep, said that the state was building a base for the growth of GDP.TAG_OPEN_div_12 Stating that agriculture, tourism and industrialization have been prioritized for strengthening the state’s economy, he said a special relief plan has been put in place for the increase of industries and agricultural production.

Vice-Chairman of the Provincial Planning Commission, Taranath Niraula, stressed on the consumption of local products.TAG_OPEN_div_10 Chief Minister’s economic advisor Mohan Prasad Subedi said that the import could be replaced to increase the GDP.
