Kathmandu. Nepal has received a commitment of foreign direct investment (FDI) worth Rs 45.32 billion in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year.
According to the Department of Industry, the commitment for foreign investment has been made for 728 projects till mid-April of this amount.
According to the department, Rs 22.08 billion was invested in agriculture and forestry based industries during the period. This amount has been committed for 16 projects.
Similarly, the tourism sector is the second project where most of the investment has been approved. Commitment of Rs 12.54 billion has been made for 189 projects in the tourism sector.
Similarly, commitment of Rs 4.23 billion has been received for 55 projects in the service sector. According to the department, commitment of Rs 2.70 billion has been received in 42 projects related to manufacturing sector, Rs 1.74 billion in 421 projects related to information and communication technology and Rs 234.25 million in two projects related to energy sector.
Similarly, commitment of Rs 1.65 billion has been made for one project in the infrastructure sector.
According to the Department, out of 728 projects, 711 are small industries, eight are medium industries and 9 are big industries. The construction of these projects will provide employment to 23,316 Nepalis.
