Over 573,000 tourists visit Mustang in 10 months

Kathmandu. A total of 573,977 tourists have visited Mustang in the 10 months of the current fiscal year 2082/83. According to the District Police Office, a large number of domestic and foreign tourists have entered Mustang from mid-July to mid-April of the current fiscal year.

A total of 420,086 domestic and 153,891 foreign tourists entered Mustang during the past 10 months, said Santosh Basyal, Information Officer and Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Mustang. According to the District Police Office, 219,817 male and 2269 female tourists have visited Mustang for domestic tourism. Similarly, 90,957 male and remaining female tourists have entered Mustang, Police Inspector Basyal said.

According to the police check post at Ghansa of Thasang rural municipality-4, the border of Myagdi and Mustang districts, the number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting Mustang was lowest at 19,791 in the month of July and the highest at 105,503 in the month of Baisakh.

According to Police Inspector Basyal of District Police Office, 131,672 different types of vehicles entered Mustang via Myagdi from mid-July to mid-April of the current fiscal year. He said the most tourists have arrived here in the months of March and Baisakh with the arrival of the spring season.

Similarly, 75,599 domestic and foreign tourists arrived in Mustang in September before winter and 83,766 in October, according to the police data. The number of visitors visiting Mustang increases during the convenient season of the rainy season.

A large number of Indian and Nepali tourists visit Muktinath to visit Muktinath, according to a data recorded at the police checkpost. Inspector Basyal said that Indian nationals make up 80 percent of the total foreign tourists entering Mustang.

A total of 705,779 tourists visited Mustang in the last fiscal year. Of the tourists who visited Nepal last year, 555,326 were domestic and 150,453 were outside, said Police Inspector Basyal. According to him, tourism in Mustang has been partially affected due to the Genji youth movement in August this fiscal year and the conflict in the Middle East between the US-Israel and Iran. The arrival of tourism is increasing every year.

Visitors from both India and to visit Muktinath Temple located in Waragung Mukti Chhetra Rural Municipality-1 of Mustang district in the district, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commerce and Irrigation have said that tourists from both India and Nepal visit Mustang to pay homage to Muktinath. Tourist attraction has increased in Mustang due to its unique geography, biodiversity, ancient art and culture, lifestyle, Himalayan beauty and uniqueness, according to stakeholders.
