Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has not paid the incremental fee for foreign tourists visiting Hanumandhoka Durbar Museum despite the increased fee to the Museum Development Committee.

The entrance fee for foreign tourists visiting Hanumandhoka Durbar Museum was increased from the fiscal year 2080-2081 BS. Tourists from SAARC countries were charged Rs 150 and tourists from other countries Rs 750 as tourist fee before the fiscal year 2080-2081.

According to Clause 4 (d) of the Hanumandhoka Palace Museum Development Committee Formation Order 2067, the committee shall have the responsibility and authority to determine and collect the entrance fee to the museum. As per the committee’s decision on October 28, the KMC had decided to charge Rs 150 for visitors from SAARC countries and Rs 750 from tourists from other countries for their entry to the museum.

As per the decision, KMC will pay Rs 50 from the amount collected from tourists from SAARC countries and Rs 250 from the amount collected from tourists from other countries. The Metropolitan City has included the increased fee from the fiscal year 2080/81 BS in Schedule 13 of the Finance Act, 2081.

The 63rd report of the Auditor General states that the amount received by the committee should have been increased in proportion to the increased fee. The committee has not yet taken any decision in this regard. The 63rd report of the Auditor General states that the metropolis has not deposited Rs 30.77 million in tourist service fee in the account of the committee till Ashad 2082.
