Palhinanna. Although the deadline for the construction of Maheshpur main customs road linking India with India has been extended time and again, it is yet to be completed.
The Road Division Office Butwal under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport had given the contract to Gaurishankar Himalayan Construction Company for the construction of one kilometer road from Maheshpur to Harpur and 500 meters from Maheshpur to Harpur of Bardaghat Susta.
According to Sushil Poudel, an engineer at the Division Office, Butwal, only 65 percent of the road construction has been completed so far. According to him, the contractor has not been able to complete the work on time due to delay in shifting electric poles and drinking water pipes.
According to Engineer Poudel, the deadline for the completion of Maheshpur road has been extended for the third time till mid-May. However, the contractor has stopped the work citing the increase in the price of biture. Dilip Lama of Gaurishankar Himalayan Construction Company said that the project could not be completed on time due to the shortage of bituber.
Jagdish Gupta, ward chairman of Palhinandan Rural Municipality-2, said that the contractors have not been able to construct the road on time. “Due to the lack of timely road construction, the situation has turned dusty and muddy when it rains, and the people have been facing problems,” he said. The state money has been wasted due to the lack of honesty of the contractors and the people have suffered. ”
