Kathmandu. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said a deal with Iran that could end the war in the Middle East could be unveiled later on Sunday.
Talking to reporters in New Delhi, he said the world could get positive news in the next few hours. Rubio, who is on his first visit to India, said the Emerging Agreement would address US President Donald Trump’s concerns about the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz has been somewhat disrupted by Iran-US-Israel tensions.
According to him, the proposed deal could start a process that could eventually lead to the elimination of Iran’s nuclear weapons threats.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said talks to open the Strait of Hormuz were “very much progress”. He told Truth Social that the process of finalizing the agreement between the United States, Iran and other countries was close.
The Emerging Deal has also sparked a political debate within the United States. Trump’s closest aides, such as Senator Ted Cruz and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, criticized the deal, raising concerns about the potential for economic and strategic benefits for Iran. Both of them are staunch supporters of Israel.
Cruz warned that such a potential outcome could be a “catastrophic mistake”.
Responding to the criticism, Rubio said the purpose of the “Epic Fury” campaign against Iran was clear. According to him, Iran’s naval capability has been severely damaged under this operation.
“The United States is aiming to significantly weaken Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities and damage the country’s defense and industrial infrastructure,” he said.
In Rubio’s words, all the major objectives of the “Epic Fury” campaign have been accomplished.
