CM Karki assures of development of ‘one municipality, one agriculture product’ sector and employment generation in budget

Kathmandu. Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Kumar Karki said the upcoming budget would focus on production, employment and tourism. At a discussion and interaction on budget formulation for the fiscal year 2083/84 organized by the Province Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning in Biratnagar today, Minister Pokharel said the budget would lay special emphasis on local production, poverty alleviation and tourism development.

Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki said the ‘one municipality, one agriculture product’ would be developed in partnership with 137 local levels in the province to create employment and encourage local industries.TAG_OPEN_div_22 According to him, the subsidy provided by the state government in agriculture and dairy production has helped reduce poverty in the province.

In order to encourage 200 cottage industries in the province, 4,000 employees will be given an additional Rs 5,TAG_OPEN_div_20 000 as clothing allowance and they will be provided with uniforms of the cottage industry for one day a week from mid-June.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Karki said that the state government would promote tourism in the region by inviting Nepalis living abroad to declare ‘Visit Koshi’ in the coming fiscal year.TAG_OPEN_div_18 He expressed the belief that the construction of four trekking routes linking 29 municipalities in the province would help increase local production, poverty alleviation and help in employment generation.

On the occasion, Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning of the province Bidur Kumar Linthep said that the UDAY project would increase the production of small and medium industries in the rural areas.TAG_OPEN_div_16

Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Pradeep Kumar Sunwar urged the provincial assembly members to bring a common plan for drinking water and to reduce migration from hilly and mountainous regions.TAG_OPEN_div_14 Chief Secretary Rajendra Kumar Poudel said that the budget will ensure the access of all to income, employment, health and education.

Joint Secretary at the Ministry, Sushil Bastola, presented a working paper on socioeconomic situation of the province.TAG_OPEN_div_12 On the occasion, the state members suggested to bring special programmes for tourism, modernization of agriculture and reduction of migration of people living in hilly and mountainous areas.
