Govt focused on development and expansion of investment through international relations: Foreign Minister

. Minister for Foreign Affairs Sishir Khanal said the government was committed to effectively utilize the country’s international relations for the country’s development, economic prosperity and promotion of national interests.
Addressing a programme organised by Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Tokha municipality-9 here this morning, he said Nepal’s international relations are based on diplomatic, economic, cultural and strategic relations with various countries of the world and international organisations.TAG_OPEN_div_30
He said Nepal has been pursuing an independent, non-aligned and balanced foreign policy and the foreign policy was being conducted on the basis of Nepal’s constitution, UN Charter, Panchasheel principles and norms and values of non-aligned movement.TAG_OPEN_div_28
Minister Khanal said protection of national interests, economic development, peace and strengthening of international cooperation were the main objectives of Nepal’s foreign policy.TAG_OPEN_div_26
“I am working to end the dilly-dallying in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and provide timely service to the citizens. We have simplified the passport distribution process. “We are now in a position to provide passports within two to three days of application and in some cases the next day,” Khanal said.
He said that the mobile app ‘TAG_OPEN_div_22 Mofa Mitra’ has been launched to address the problems of Nepalis living abroad. According to him, the Nepalis who are in trouble abroad can directly register their complaint through the app, which would be monitored at the ministerial level.
Stating that works are being carried out as per the ‘100-point commitment letter’ made public by the government after the elections, he said the process to investigate the property of the people holding important public posts and to open the old corruption files has moved ahead after 2063 BS.TAG_OPEN_div_20
